When we make goals for ourselves, rely on our effort, self-control, and willpower to accomplish them. So, we set our goals and, instead of thinking about how we can reduce the challenge, we wait for obstacles to crash up against us. It’s almost as if we’re hoping against hope that this time things will be easier.
Unfortunately, obstacles are inevitable. And when we encounter them and are set back, we think we’re weak, pathetic, and lacking mental and even moral fortitude. It’s as if we think either obstacles shouldn’t exist for us or we should be able to mow them down with such ease that they’re not even a hiccup on our journey.
But this isn’t reality, is it?
