One Thing Wise People Do That No One Else Does
It brings their lives more meaning, joy, and purpose.
What’s the most precious thing in the world to you?
We all know it’s not the gold chain around your neck or the diamond ring on your finger. We all know it’s not the vehicle in your garage, the store you own, or the startup you’re about to sell. We all know that material things are not what really matters in this life.
But that’s not how we tend to act, is it?
You think about work during dinner with your family. You’re too preoccupied with your side hustle to give your date the attention he deserves. You scroll through social media while having coffee with your best friend. You fantasize about success rather than being present with your children.
We all know we shouldn’t do these things but we do them anyway. And because we do them anyway, we make these things precious to us — we make our material possessions, our social status, and our work more important than our relationships.
Yet, in the end, we can’t take any of these things with us. And when we’re on our deathbeds, what we consistently wish we had done more of is connect — with ourselves, our parents, our partners, our children, our friends. Everyone.
